Operation Maintenance Man: chapter 5

That day I made sure I was perfect.I took my time doing my hair and make-up,after all I had to be flawless.The closer date time came the more nervous I became. I felt like it was prom night.Time was moving fast ,before I knew it was thirty minutes to date time.

Walter was right on time.He looked great .

"You look great, " he said as he walked in the apartment the door.

"Thanks , come on in. Have a seat. I am almost ready.Do you want a drink?"

"Nall, I'm good." He replied as he sat back on the couch.

I freshened my lipstick and grabbed my purse .We were on our first formal date.

Our first stop was dinner and a laugh.We went to a local sports bar that had karaoke.We thought it would be funny to laugh at the wannabes.It also was happy hour so we knew the singers would be drunk.

We got there right on time.The singers were up and ready with beers in hand.Of course, I wasn't gonna get up an make a fool out of myself.I was just a watcher.I wasn't drunk enough to be a participator.We stayed at the bar about a hour and a half and finally was ready to go to the next destination.

"Are you ready to try your luck?" Walter asked

"Yeah ,what's up?"

"A little lottery.Let's see how lucky we are as a couple." He stood up and put on his coat and I followed.Out the door we went to destination two.

I couldn't get it out my head that he called us a couple.Did this mean he was actually into me?

We decided to go to the internet cafe .I loved these little gambling casinos, they had hundreds of games to play plus the lottery.

"What you wanna try first?" I asked as we walked through the door.

"You choose ladies first."

"Well, I guess I will get some scratch -offs."

My first set of tickets won me nothing but playbacks ,but my playbacks won me some money.

"Walter come look at my ticket I think I won."

" Okay, let me see,how are you playing and don't know if you win? Let's see..Yelp! My lucky charm."He said as he walked up behind me a peered over my shoulder.
I couldn't believe I won!This was turning out to be one of the best dates of my life.Walter was really a gentleman.He knew how to treat a lady.Could the night get any better?

"Lets get out of here before you lose your winnings."

"Hey , I am feeling lucky let's win some more." I said as looked at him flirting .

He was looking at me like I was a piece of meat and I got turned on immediately.

"Can I win something tonight?" He whispered as he kissed me on the cheek.

I shook my head yeah and kissed him on the lips.We headed to the car and of course he opened the door for me.I couldn't wait to get home . Yes,tonight was gonna be the night.

As we pulled out the parking lot I heard a loud horn and saw bright lights.The next thing I knew was the car was flipping over and over.Evidently we had gotten into an accident.

I had awaken three days later in ICU.We had been involved in a wreck with a semi -truck as we left the parking lot.I was told the driver of my vehicle didn't make it.

I couldn't believe it and was shocked for about ten minutes before I started to cry.

The night that started as the best night of my life turned out to be the worst.

Walter died on the scene before the EMS got there.
